Replacing sugars with artificial sweetener can reduce or avoid a spike because artificial sweeteners do not raise glucose to the magnitude that carbs and sugars do.
Keep in mind: Foods sweetened with artificial sweeteners may still contain carbs that will spike glucose. Always check the nutrition facts label.
If you’re trying to avoid artificial sweeteners, try selecting drinks with no- to low-sugar like water (add lemon or herbs for flavor), or sparkling water without any sweeteners.
